Activity: CWPM (Correct Words Per Minute)

Activity: CWPM (Correct Words Per Minute)
Reading Promotion Week – Library Activity

As part of Reading Promotion Week, the school library organized the CWPM (Correct Words Per Minute) activity to strengthen students’ reading fluency and accuracy.

During the activity, students were given a graded reading passage from library books. Each student read aloud for a fixed time while the teacher recorded the number of correctly read words per minute. Emphasis was given to correct pronunciation, pace, and clarity while reading.

The CWPM activity helped in identifying students’ reading levels and improving their speed, confidence, and comprehension skills. Regular practice through CWPM encourages students to become fluent readers and supports overall academic achievement.

The activity was conducted successfully with active participation from students and proved to be an effective tool in promoting structured reading habits through the library.
