BOOK REVIEW

📚 BOOK REVIEW WITH SKIT 🎭
A New Way to Inspire Reading!
✨ Bringing Books to Life Through Student Performance ✨

To make book reviews more interesting, interactive and enjoyable, students presented a creative Book Review with Skit based on Sudha Murty's popular children's book The Magic of the Lost Temple.

Instead of presenting a traditional book review, students became the characters of the story and brought a small part of the book alive on stage.

Through the characters of Nooni, Ajji, Friend and Narrator, the students introduced the audience to a fascinating world of adventure, curiosity, friendship, Indian culture and history without revealing the complete mystery of the story.

🎭 THE IDEA WAS SIMPLE

Don't just tell students about a good book —
make them curious enough to READ IT!
📖 “Want to know what they discovered?
Read the book and discover the magic!”
🌟 Why is this activity special?

This innovative activity combines Reading + Book Review + Drama + Creativity + Communication Skills.

While performing the story, students develop reading comprehension, confidence, teamwork, creativity and presentation skills.

Most importantly, the skit creates curiosity among other students and encourages them to visit the library, pick up the book and discover the complete story themselves.

💡 READ IT → ACT IT → REVIEW IT → RECOMMEND IT

Through this approach, a book review becomes more than a summary — it becomes an experience that inspires another reader.

📚 National Librarian’s Day – 12 August 2026

📚 National Librarian’s Day – 12 August 2026

Celebrating the Birth Anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan

12 August is celebrated in India as National Librarian’s Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, popularly known as the Father of Library Science in India.

Dr. S. R. Ranganathan was born on 12 August 1892. His remarkable contribution to library science, classification, cataloguing, library education and the development of libraries in India continues to inspire librarians and readers even today.

🌟 Dr. S. R. Ranganathan

Dr. S. R. Ranganathan played a pioneering role in developing modern library science in India. His famous work “The Five Laws of Library Science”, published in 1931, provided a simple but powerful philosophy for libraries.

📖 The Five Laws of Library Science

1. Books are for use.
Books are meant to be read and used, not simply kept on shelves.

2. Every reader his/her book.
Every reader has different interests and information needs.

3. Every book its reader.
Every book has a reader who may benefit from it.

4. Save the time of the reader.
Library services should help readers find the information they need quickly.

5. Library is a growing organism.
A library continuously grows and changes according to the needs of its users and society.

These five laws remain relevant even in today's digital library environment.

📚 Why Do We Celebrate National Librarian’s Day?

National Librarian’s Day is an occasion to celebrate the importance of:

📖 Books and Reading
📚 Libraries and Knowledge
💡 Learning and Curiosity
🌐 Digital Information
🧠 Knowledge Sharing

It is also a day to remember the contribution of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan and his vision for the development of libraries in India.

“A library is a growing organism.”
